Fellowship eligibility
Shepherd’s Rehabilitation Psychology Fellowship Program welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and lifestyles. We offer one 24-month fellowship position available to individuals who:
- Have completed their Doctoral degree, including defense of a dissertation, from a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program accredited by the American Psychology Association (APA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) before the start date of the fellowship.
- Have completed an APA/CPA-accredited psychology internship program.
- Are eligible to work in the United States and can complete the required employment eligibility verification upon hire. Shepherd is currently unable to commit to sponsoring H-1B visas.

- Letter of interest including training and clinical experiences and an explanation of your specific interests in our fellowship program
- Curriculum vitae
- APPCN Verification of Completion of Doctorate Form
- Copy of one de-identified clinical case discussing conceptualization and assessment/intervention summary, preferably one relevant to our clinical population (please keep under five pages)
The following materials should also be submitted, directly from the source:
- Official graduate school transcripts sent directly from the program. After a formal offer and acceptance, the fellow is required to send official transcripts to the fellowship director.*
- Three letters of recommendation from professionals familiar with your academic or clinical work, at least one of which is from a current supervisor.
*For applicants that have not completed their dissertation defense, a letter from the chairperson of the dissertation indicating the status of the research project and the anticipated date of completion is required. If the dissertation chairperson is also writing a letter as a clinical supervisor, information regarding dissertation status can be included in that letter. No applicant will be permitted to begin fellowship training if his or her dissertation has not been completed.
Interview process and start date
Selection will be based on a letter of intent, the qualifications of the applicant, and letters of recommendation. After the initial review process, top candidates will be offered interviews via video conference or on-site (expenses paid). Fellows typically begin training the Tuesday after Labor Day, but the start date is negotiable.
Fellowship salary
As a fellow, you’ll receive a stipend based on NIH fellowship rates, reflecting your years of post-graduate experience:
- Year one: $61,428
- Year two: $61,884
