About Sylvia Ronco, RT, RCP
Sylvia has a passion for compassionate patient care and a drive for innovation in respiratory therapy. Originally from Argentina, she moved to the United States to pursue her education, guided by her uncle, a physician. Inspired by his encouragement, Sylvia embarked on a career in respiratory therapy, a field she has grown to love.
Currently, Sylvia serves as the director of respiratory services, collaborating closely with inpatient pulmonologists and nurse leaders. In her role, she oversees all operational aspects, ensuring the highest standards of clinical respiratory care in line with the American Association for Respiratory Care guidelines. Her responsibilities span fiscal management to resource allocation, program planning, and performance improvement initiatives.
Sylvia's approach to patient care is marked by attentive listening and genuine empathy. She believes in making sure her patients feel heard and understood, fostering an environment of trust and comfort. Moreover, she maintains a keen interest in exploring new respiratory equipment and therapies, particularly those that can benefit spinal cord patients.
Outside of work, Sylvia cherishes spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also keeps herself updated by attending conferences for continuing education and exploring new equipment and supplies that could enhance the Shepherd Center's respiratory therapy services.
