Advocacy
Shepherd Center strives to create an inclusive environment for our patients, employees, and all others who access our facility (volunteers, community members, etc). In addition to organizational practices that cultivate diversity and inclusion, we work to promote those principles through active engagement in advocacy and public policy.
As a supporter of the disability rights movement, Shepherd Center monitors local and federal legislation and upcoming issues that are expected to have an impact on the disability community. In addition, we assist self-help groups that are working on legislation and issues.
Shepherd Center is available to help put you in touch with the individuals, lawmakers, and groups that affect policy and decision-making.
