That belief guides Dr. Casey Kandilakis’ work as a Research Physical Therapist in Research & Innovation at Shepherd Center. Since joining Shepherd in 2011, Dr. Kandilakis has coordinated clinical trials from recruitment through data management, while performing physical assessments and therapy treatments that connect science to patient care.

Her expertise spans pharmacology, medical devices, and rehabilitation strategies, with a focus on advancing therapies that improve independence and quality of life for individuals with neurological injuries.

Beyond Shepherd

Dr. Kandilakis is a leader in her field, serving as Chair of the Spinal Cord Injury Special Interest Group for the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT) and contributing as an item writer for the ABPTS Neurologic Specialty Council. She reviews eight scientific journals and has volunteered as an expert reviewer for two Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Clinical Practice Guidelines.
