About
Dr. Gary Gropper is a consulting neurosurgeon at Shepherd Center, renowned for his extensive experience and leadership in the neurosurgical community. He earned his medical degree from The University of Tennessee, followed by a general surgical internship at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1985. His academic journey began with an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1974, where he majored in molecular biology and minored in general biology.
Since relocating to Atlanta in 1986, Dr. Gropper has been a prominent figure in neurosurgery. He served as chairman of the Department of Neuroscience at Piedmont Hospital from 2002 to 2005. His expertise has been sought after by professional sports teams, serving as a neurological consultant for the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his consulting role at Shepherd Center, Dr. Gropper maintains a private practice at Atlanta Brain and Spine Care, where he continues to provide exceptional care to his patients.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Gropper values quality time with his wife and four children, enjoying various family activities. His dedication to both his field and his family highlights his balanced approach to life and work.
