Barry Fitts

Barry Fitts is a seasoned healthcare IT leader with more than 25 years of experience in information technology and over 27 years in management, including 17 years at the executive level. He joined Shepherd Center as Chief Information Officer (CIO) in 2025 from Christus Health, a national nonprofit healthcare system headquartered in Irving, Texas, where he served as Associate CIO. In that role, Barry managed relationships with regional executive leadership teams, aligning information systems strategy with organizational goals, overseeing clinical and financial systems, and driving process improvements to reduce complexity and costs.

Previously, Barry held leadership roles at CommonSpirit Health in Chicago as Division CIO, where he led strategic IT initiatives across multiple entities, managing a team of 8 direct and 200 indirect reports. Before that, he spent 15 years at Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tennessee, serving as VP of IT Division Services and Division CIO. There, he directed IT operations for seven divisions encompassing 150 hospitals, with responsibility for 10 senior leaders and 800 indirect staff.

Barry is recognized for his strategic vision, strong leadership, and ability to foster collaboration across complex organizations. His expertise in enterprise architecture, innovation, and operational efficiency will play a key role in advancing Shepherd Center’s mission.
