Physician opportunities at Shepherd Center

Below are the types of physician roles we actively recruit for as our programs grow.

This position is ideal for a fellowship‑trained, board‑certified/eligible brain injury medicine physician to manage patients across the full severity and recovery spectrum.

Core responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive care for complex brain injury patients
  • Teaching residents and our brain injury medicine fellow
  • Contributing to research and academic initiatives

Candidates must be board‑certified/eligible in PM&R and dedicated to patient‑centered, evidence‑based care.

This position is ideal for a fellowship‑trained, board‑certified/eligible SCI physician to provide expert care across the continuum of post‑acute and chronic spinal cord injury management.

This role includes:

  • Managing complex SCI patients in the outpatient setting
  • Teaching Emory PM&R residents and the SCI fellow
  • Engaging in research, academic, and leadership activities

Ideal candidates bring compassion, clinical excellence, and a commitment to advancing SCI medicine.

This position is ideal for a board‑certified/eligible physiatrist with interventional pain experience to support both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Role highlights:

  • Consulting on pain management needs for ABI, SCI, and complex injury patients
  • Managing an outpatient clinic for chronic pain
  • Contributing to research, academic, and program development initiatives

Candidates board‑certified/eligible in pain management are welcome to apply. This is a non‑surgical position.

This position is ideal for a fellowship‑trained physiatrist, board‑certified/eligible in spinal cord injury (SCI) or brain injury (ABI) medicine.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a 15–20 bed comprehensive rehabilitation unit
  • Providing care primarily for SCI and ABI, with additional exposure to stroke, complex orthopedic injuries, and amputations
  • Teaching and mentoring Emory PM&R residents and other trainees
  • Participating in research, academic, and administrative initiatives
  • Limited outpatient responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate a patient‑centric clinical focus and interest in advancing the field through research, academics, and advocacy.
