How to apply for the Shepherd Center Nurse Scholars Program
Eligibility requirements
Candidates for the Shepherds Center Nurse Scholars program must be full-time or part-time nursing students pursuing an associate degree in nursing (AND/ASN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at an accredited college in Georgia.
- Candidates must remain enrolled and remain in good standing in their degree program.
- Scholarship funds are awarded at the end of the semester and can be used for tuition fees and educational expenses.
- Scholars must submit their final transcript at the end of each semester to the
- Shepherd Center Nurse Scholars Section Committee to ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements for subsequent scholarship renewal.
- If the recipient fails to enroll, withdraws from college, or does not maintain eligibility requirements, the Shepherd Nurse Scholars and Selection Committee will select another student if time permits; otherwise, funds are held in the scholar’s account and carried over to the next semester.

Use the online application on this page to apply. You will be asked to complete the following steps in the application process:
- Write a short answer response not to exceed 500 words responding to the below items:
- Reasons for choosing a career in nursing
- Commitment to the nursing profession
- Interest in catastrophic care
- Career goals after graduation
- Request two letters of recommendation from current faculty at your college or university, using our recommendation form for faculty submissions.
- Request a copy of your university transcript to be sent directly from your university to the Shepherd Nurse Scholar Selection Committee. Transcripts can be sent one of two ways:

A selection committee of nursing professionals will review applications and select recipients based on merit, need, and potential for impact in the nursing field. Applications cannot be processed until all required documentation is submitted. Scholarships are awarded annually in the fall semester.
