Dr. Punam Rahman is a dedicated psychologist at Shepherd Center, specializing in helping patients with spinal cord injuries and dual diagnoses achieve their optimal level of functioning. With a compassionate approach, she supports patients as they navigate challenging transitions, ensuring they receive the guidance and care needed to regain independence.
Dr. Rahman was drawn to Shepherd Center for its strong commitment to patient and family-centered care. She values the collaborative environment, where staff work together to problem-solve and help patients reach their goals during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
Originally from New York City, Dr. Rahman is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as President of the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology, a member of the Division 22 Education & Training Committee, and a The Council of Rehabilitation Psychology Postdoctoral Training Programs (CRPPTP) member.
Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys mentoring students, hiking with her dog, and crafting intricate meals with her husband.
