John McDaniel serves as Shepherd Center’s Vice President of Finance and Supply Chain providing executive leadership for the organization’s financial operations, strategic planning, and supply chain functions. In this role, he oversees accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, audit, tax compliance, accounts payable, contracting, purchasing, and the distribution of goods and services throughout the hospital. John works closely with senior leadership to ensure Shepherd Center’s long-term financial strength and operational excellence while supporting its mission of providing world-class patient care, research, and rehabilitation services.

John’s connection to Shepherd Center began in 1983 when his father sustained a spinal cord injury and received care at Shepherd. Inspired by the impact Shepherd had on his family, John joined the organization in 1987 as a part-time Pharmacy Technician, beginning a career that would span nearly four decades and multiple leadership roles.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University, John transitioned into Supply Chain leadership as Supply Chain Manager. He later earned his Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University while continuing to advance his career at Shepherd. As his responsibilities expanded, John served in hybrid finance and supply chain leadership positions, including Supply Chain Manager and Senior Accountant, and later Supply Chain Manager and Assistant Controller. In 2016, he was promoted to Director of Finance, where he led significant initiatives to strengthen financial reporting, budgeting, and operational efficiency across the organization. In 2026, John was promoted to Vice President of Finance and Supply Chain, expanding his leadership responsibilities including strategic oversight of Shepherd Center’s financial performance, supply chain operations, and long-term fiscal sustainability.

As Vice President, John continues to champion innovation, fiscal stewardship, and cross-functional collaboration, helping Shepherd Center navigate a rapidly evolving healthcare environment while maintaining its commitment to exceptional patient outcomes and service excellence.

John credits Shepherd Center for giving his family 26 additional years with his father that they otherwise may not have had. That personal experience continues to inspire his dedication to Shepherd’s mission and fuels his passion for serving patients, families, and caregivers every day.
