About
Dr. Woody Morgan is a staff physiatrist at Shepherd Center. He is triple board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), spinal cord injury medicine, and brain injury medicine, specializing in the rehabilitation care of patients with neurologic illness/injury.
Dr. Morgan currently leads four interdisciplinary teams in the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit, where he provides care for patients experiencing the most complex conditions, including spinal cord and brain injuries, multi-trauma, traumatic amputations, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions.
Before joining Shepherd Center in 2023, Dr. Morgan served as the medical program director of the Spinal Cord Injury Medicine Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he also received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2023 from the Vanderbilt Department of PM&R.
Dr. Morgan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and graduated with honors from Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed residency training in PM&R at Harvard Medical School and a Fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at Craig Hospital/University of Colorado.
Dr. Morgan has a wealth of personal and professional spinal cord injury experience, having lived with a spinal cord injury since 2008. His primary focus is caring for patients recovering from traumatic and nontraumatic spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, and other catastrophic illnesses/injuries. In addition to providing clinical care to patients, he hopes to instill inspiration that life continues after injury.
