Health and Wellness Hands-On Clinic
March 21, 20159:00 am - 4:00 pmShepherd Center's "From Injury to Integration: Closing the Healthcare Gap" is a Health and Wellness Hands-On Clinic for individuals with a spinal cord injury, C-6 or below. Participants receive continued education to learn, review and practice wheelchair sports, such as handcycling and tennis from therapists in Shepherd Center's Spinal Cord Injury Program under the guidance of the Recreation Program. Participating in these types of activities can reduce secondary complications, increase endurance and strength, and can expand your knowledge of leisure skills. Regular participation in leisure-time physical activity will help maintain a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle.

2015 Adventure Skills Workshop
May 15, 2015 - May 17, 2015The activities are designed for the participants with disabilities This fun-filled weekend is designed for people with spinal cord injury or disease, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, post-polio syndrome, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, transverse myelitis or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). You’ll get hands-on practice in activities you’ve always loved, as well as those you’ve always wanted to try. If you need assistance with selfcare, transfers, mobility, following maps or directions, feeding or anything else, you must bring a friend or family member. Whether you are newly injured and attending for the first time, or an Adventure Skills veteran coming back for more, be assured that you’ll have the opportunity to explore new activities, learn new skills, meet new people and have fun. We believe you’ll leave with a new outlook on life — seeing everyday as an adventure.
