Dr. Bowman’s Medical Background
Dr. Brock Bowman is the associate medical director of Shepherd Center. He has particular interest in treating individuals who have sustained brain and spinal cord injuries concurrently.
Dr. Bowman is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and is subspecialty certified in spinal cord injury medicine. He was recently named to the Top Doctors List by U.S. News & World Report magazine and Atlanta Magazine.
Dr. Bowman graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He obtained his medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C., and he completed his transitional medicine internship at Atlanta Medical Center.
He received his specialty training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also served as the chief resident in his final year.
Originally from Los Gatos, Calif., Dr. Bowman is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Spinal Injury Association. He has been awarded the Robert L. Bennett, M.D., Award for Teaching Excellence in Physiatry from Emory University in 2000 and again in 2005.
