About the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

The Pharmacy Residency Program at Shepherd Center provides a supportive, dynamic environment for residents to learn and grow within a top-ranked, specialized neurorehabilitation hospital. Here, you’ll work alongside interdisciplinary healthcare professionals and deliver direct care to a diverse patient population, gaining valuable, hands-on experience in neurorehabilitation.

Our program builds on your PharmD foundation to develop your skills as a clinical pharmacist, equipping you to manage medication-related care for patients facing a range of neurological conditions. By the end of your residency, you’ll be prepared to pursue board certification and ready for PGY2 specialty training if you choose to continue your path in advanced pharmacy practice.

Accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), our PGY1 program trains you across the continuum of care — from initial evaluation and acute treatment to rehabilitation and lifelong recovery — setting you up for success in a rewarding clinical career.

Program goals

Our goal is to prepare pharmacists who are confident, skilled, and adaptable across all stages of patient care. This program is designed to enhance not only your clinical expertise but also your self-motivation, commitment to lifelong learning, and passion for advancing the pharmacy profession. By the end of your residency, you will be fully equipped to pursue a clinical position or take the next step in your career through PGY2 specialty training.
