Empowering you to live actively and independently

Living with multiple sclerosis (MS) can be unpredictable, with physical and cognitive challenges that evolve over time. At Shepherd Center, we provide specialized physical, occupational, and speech therapy to help you improve mobility, function, and independence — no matter the type of MS you’re managing.

Regain control and confidence in your movements. Our skilled physical therapists work with you to improve mobility, manage pain, and enhance strength and balance through personalized treatment plans tailored to your needs. In addition, we offer:

  • Referrals to our pain clinic: For advanced care and management of chronic pain associated with multiple sclerosis.
  • Mobility aid recommendations: Our experts assess your needs and provide guidance on devices such as canes, walkers, or wheelchairs to support your daily activities and maintain your independence.
  • Gait training and balance exercises: Designed to prevent falls and build stability in your everyday life.

Rediscover independence and the ability to perform daily tasks with ease. Our occupational therapists specialize in empowering you to regain control of your routine by focusing on practical skills such as:

  • Dressing, bathing, and grooming: Learn adaptive techniques and tools to make self-care easier and more efficient.
  • Managing home and community activities: From preparing meals to running errands, we help you navigate life with confidence.
  • Workplace and leisure adaptations: Guidance on modifications or adjustments that can make your workplace or hobbies more accessible and enjoyable.

Overcome the communication and swallowing challenges that multiple sclerosis can bring. Our dedicated speech-language pathologists are here to:

  • Strengthen speech and communication: Through targeted exercises, we build confidence in articulation, expression, and understanding.
  • Enhance swallowing function: Improve swallowing safety and efficiency with strategies and techniques tailored to your condition.
  • Boost cognitive abilities: Address issues with memory, attention, and problem-solving to improve your quality of life and independence.

You may also be referred to our Integrated Therapy Program (ITP) in combination with other rehabilitation therapies prescribed by your physician designed to improve daily living function. This three-week program integrates therapy and aspects of our MS Wellness program for those who could benefit from a more condensed care plan.

I am amazed at how generous and committed every staff member is. They are dedicated to making things easier for people with MS, and the care they show goes beyond just doing their jobs. I am so grateful for Shepherd Center.
