How to Submit a Neuropsychology Fellowship Application

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology Application Information

Shepherd’s Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship Program welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and lifestyles to submit their applications. We offer two 24-month resident positions, available to individuals who: 

  1. Possess a Doctoral degree, including defense of a dissertation, from a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program accredited by the American Psychology Association (APA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) before the start date of the fellowship. 
  2. Have completed an APA/CPA-accredited psychology internship program with a major area of study or emphasis in neuropsychology training/education.
  3. Are eligible to work in the United States and can complete the required employment eligibility verification upon hire. Shepherd is unable to commit to sponsoring H-1B visas currently.

Neuropsychology Fellowship Application Submission Instructions 

Individuals wishing to apply for admission to the fellowship must submit the following documents, in a single compressed PDF file, via email to michelle.jackson@shepherd.org or np.fellowship@shepherd.org.

  • Letter of interest including training and clinical experiences and an explanation of your specific interests in our fellowship program 
  • Curriculum vitae 
  • APPCN Verification of Completion of Doctorate Form 
  • Copy of one neuropsychological report (appropriately de-identified), preferably one relevant to our clinical population  

The following materials should also be submitted, directly from the source:  

  • Official graduate school transcripts sent directly from the program.* 
  • Three letters of recommendation from professionals familiar with your academic or clinical work, at least one of which is from a current supervisor. The letters should address your clinical and academic skills, particularly as they relate to training in neuropsychology. 

*For applicants that have not completed their dissertation defense, a letter from the chairperson of the dissertation indicating the status of the research project (e.g., completed data collection) and the anticipated date of completion is required. If the dissertation chairperson is also writing a letter as a clinical supervisor, information regarding the dissertation status can be included in that letter. No applicant will be permitted to begin fellowship training if his or her dissertation has not been completed.

Resident Matching Program 

As an APPCN member, Shepherd Center’s Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship program participates in the APPCN National Match Program and observes the procedures and rules involved in this process. Applicants are instructed to register with the National Matching Service. Information can be obtained directly from the NMS website. Our APPCN Matching Program Code is 9942.

Interview Process

Interviews will be held via video conferencing.

Fellowship Salary and Benefits 

  • Stipends are based on the NIH-fellowship rates that calculate years of post-graduate experience.
  • Year One: $61,428
  • Year Two: $61,884
  • Eligible for comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as basic life and disability insurance.
  • 24 days of paid time off per year.
  • Professional development funds are available for conference presentations and travel. Requests must be approved by the training director and department director.
  • Three educational days per year to attend conferences.
  • One educational day to take the EPPP. EPPP test fee reimbursement after successfully passing the exam during fellowship range of dates.
