Our medical professionals specialize in stroke rehabilitation for people who have had Ischemic (clots) and Hemorrhagic (bleeds) strokes.
Ischemic strokes occur when a blood vessel supplying blood to the brain is obstructed, causing it to narrow or even completely block blood flow to the brain. Hemorrhagic strokes occur when a weakened blood vessel, caused by aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), rupture and bleeds in or near the brain.

Stroke rehabilitation depends on the type, location, and extent of injury resulting from the stroke. The average stay for inpatient rehabilitation at Shepherd Center is about four weeks. For outpatient or day program services, the average length of stay is about eight to 10 weeks, depending on the severity of the stroke.
You will continue to work toward recovery, focused on living a healthy lifestyle and preventing re-stroke while attending our outpatient or other outpatient or home health services in your community.
