About
Theresa DeFilippis joined Shepherd Center as a Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Specialist in 2004. While at Shepherd, Theresa has had the privilege of working as a TR therapist on the Dual diagnosis brain and spinal cord injury team and Spinal Cord Injury Day Program. As part of her role, she served on numerous committees, serving as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Adventure Skills Workshop and lead therapist for Shepherd Center’s Annual Adaptive snow ski trip to Aspen and Breckenridge, Colorado.
Theresa also worked in the Bridge Program, where she followed patients transitioning from inpatient to the community, where she sought adaptive recreation opportunities for Shepherd alumni living in Alabama, North Carolina, and the Atlanta metro area.
She transitioned to the Marketing and Admissions Department in 2007 where she served as an admissions liaison to the Mid-Atlantic Territory in Baltimore, Maryland. Theresa established outreach to territory trauma centers, provided the on-sight evaluation of new patients seeking care at Shepherd Center, and coordinated service opportunities in and around the Mid-Atlantic Area.
Currently, based in Nashville, Theresa serves in the Admissions Department assisting with triage and admissions staff support for Shepherd Pathways. In her free time, Theresa enjoys exercise, yoga, sporting events, and spending time with her husband, two children, and her sweet golden doodle.
