Shepherd Center specializes in medical treatment and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. Whether you’re recovering from a catastrophic injury or managing a chronic condition, we provide existing and new patients with individualized post-acute rehabilitation services as part of their continuum of care at Shepherd Center.
How to Access Our Outpatient Clinics & Services

Beyond Therapy is dedicated to providing specialized outpatient care for individuals with neurological conditions, offering comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services tailored to each patient's unique needs. This program is not covered by insurance.
The brain injury program for outpatients is designed to continue your rehabilitation journey as you transition from an inpatient or community program, offering ongoing assessment and therapeutic intervention.
Admissions Note: To serve current patients in a timely manner, Shepherd Pathways, our brain injury outpatient program, is not accepting external patient referrals for the program at this time. We are unable to maintain a waiting list or accept applications for external referrals for the program. We will continue to serve our current established patients and those who have been treated at Shepherd Center in the past.

The Driving Evaluation and Rehabilitation Program at Shepherd Center offers comprehensive assessments and training programs for individuals with disabilities seeking to regain or maintain their driving independence.
The Andrew C. Carlos Multiple Sclerosis Institute at Shepherd Center – which encompasses the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) medical clinic, the Eula C. and Andrew C. Carlos Rehabilitation and Wellness programs, and research – offers the best range of services and MS treatment options. This spans the continuum of medical care, rehabilitation, wellness, and more.
The Dean Stroud Spine and Pain Institute at Shepherd Center provides comprehensive support for people with chronic pain. Procedure-based interventions range from rehabilitation to psychology and more.
The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic is a specialized outpatient clinic with a multidisciplinary care team that includes board-certified physicians, physiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, case managers, therapists, nurses, technicians, dieticians, chaplains, and other professionals to manage the ongoing needs of those recovering from their conditions' physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms.
Appointments and Referrals for Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic
SHARE Military Initiative provides specialized outpatient care for U.S. service members, veterans, and first responders with brain injuries and related physical and psychological health concerns.
The spinal cord injury program for outpatients is designed to continue your rehabilitation journey as you transition from an inpatient or community program, offering ongoing assessment and therapeutic intervention.
The Spinal Cord Injury Post-Acute Program is accepting external referrals for single-service outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. To learn how to begin the referral process, please contact our new patient coordinator at 404-350-7502 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
The Spinal Cord Injury Day Treatment Program is not taking external referrals at this time. We will re-evaluate this decision in the future. In the meantime, we will not keep a waiting list or accept applications for the program.
The Upper Extremity Clinic at Shepherd Center provides support on your journey toward regaining the use of your hands, wrists, and elbows. As part of continued trauma care, the clinic operates within a multidisciplinary setting, tailoring surgical and non-surgical procedures and subsequent rehabilitation to meet your unique needs.
The Urology Clinic at Shepherd Center offers specialized outpatient care for individuals with urological conditions, including neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infections, bladder dysfunction, and urinary incontinence.
The Wheelchair Seating Seating & Mobility Clinic at Shepherd Center offers specialized assistance to individuals requiring custom seating and mobility solutions from designing custom wheelchair seating to evaluating posture and positioning needs, providing education and support, and more.
The Wound Clinic at Shepherd Center provides specialized outpatient care for individuals with chronic wounds, surgical wounds, or other complex wound issues, as well as providing education on wound prevention, ongoing medical care, treatment, and more
