Shepherd Center’s main campus is conveniently located next to Piedmont Hospital, with easy access from I-75 and I-85. We’re just a 30-minute drive from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Parking

We offer free, covered parking for all patients and visitors in our on-site parking deck. ADA parking is available on all levels, with van-accessible spaces on the ground floor. You can reach the hospital directly via elevators located on each level of the parking deck. Additionally, patients can be dropped off or picked up near the Marcus-Woodruff Building Entrance, and transport chairs are available at the Security Desk if needed.

We also make accommodations for high top vans. Please contact a member of our facilities team at 404-293-3940 the day prior to your visit and your request will be accommodated. High top vans park along the driveway adjacent to the loading dock.

Public transportation

MARTA, Atlanta’s mass transit system, operates a bus line accessing Shepherd Center. The campus is accessible via the #110-Peachtree Road/Buckhead bus from the Arts-Center MARTA station. Visit MARTA’s website for more information.

Therapy Gym

Shepherd Center boasts six state-of-the-art therapy gyms spread across three floors, each tailored to meet the diverse rehabilitation needs of our patients. These specialized spaces are equipped with the latest tools and technology to provide personalized therapy for various conditions, helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence.

“I Can” Studio

The ‘I Can’ Studio is a fully equipped, mock apartment designed to simulate real-world environments where patients can build confidence and practice vital skills for independent living.

Chapel

The Alana & Harold Shepherd Chapel serves as a peaceful sanctuary within Shepherd Center, offering a serene space for quiet reflection, prayer, and private worship. Designed to provide comfort and solace, the chapel is open to all patients, families, staff, and visitors seeking a moment of tranquility.

Family lounge

The family lounge offers a welcoming space with a kitchenette (including a refrigerator, sink, and microwave) and complimentary coffee and tea. Enjoy a children’s play area, plus workstations equipped with desktop computers and printer access for added convenience.

Secret Garden

The Anna and Hays Mershon Secret Garden is a tranquil retreat for relaxation, therapy, and enjoyment. This serene oasis features a koi pond, a peaceful Wishing Wall, and accessible planting beds used for horticulture therapy, offering a perfect blend of nature and healing.

ProMotion Fitness Center

Our ProMotion Fitness Center offers free weights, strength machines, treadmills, Stairmasters, bikes, ellipticals, spin bikes, NuStep Recumbent Steppers, upper-body ergometers, standing frames, and fitness accessories. Center is open to patients, families, and the general public. Most equipment is accessible to those with physical disabilities.

Gymnasium and indoor track

The full-court gymnasium serves as a versatile space for therapy sessions, sports practices, events, and exercise. Overlooking the gym is an indoor track, where 19 laps equal one mile, providing an additional option for fitness and rehabilitation.

Pool

The 25-yard pool features a ramp into the water, one water-powered lift, two Hoyer lifts, and a transfer wall to ensure accessibility for all. Patients use the pool for therapy and fitness center members can use the pool for lap swimming, fitness classes, swim lessons, or personal training.
